Ecuador's President, Rafael Correa, said on Saturday that U.S.-based telephone companies including AT&T (NYSE:T), Sprint (NYSE:S) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ) have swindled his country out of millions of dollars in long distance fees. President Correa claims the companies underreported the number of minutes of international calls the connected to Ecuador, reducing the fees that he said they were required to pay to the Ecuador government. A preliminary report suggested the fees could be as much as $80 million.
