After a 10-year battle, the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed an appeal of a $79.5 million award to Mayola WIlliams, the widow of a smoker, in a case against Altria Group's Phillip Morris (NYSE:MO). The Oregon state court has repeatedly upheld the verdict of the 1999 trial, and it appears it has finally come to an end. With interest, the judgement has grown to more than $145.
