3/17/2010- Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) trademark application for the Nexus One was denied, according to a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ruling that was filed last week.
The ruling states that the company's application was denied because of a "likelihood of confusion" with a related trademark that is held by Integra Telecom.
Integra's "Nexus" trademark was registered in 2008.
Google will now have the opportunity to submit further evidence in support of its application.
The company's spokesperson said, "We continue to claim rights to the Nexus One trademark in the United States, and plan to respond to the office action from the U.S. Patent Trademark Office."
