3/17/2010-Clarient's (NASDAQ:CLRT) test for ovarian cancer identified which patients may respond to taxane therapy in a study, which could spare some patients the side effects of the chemotherapy drugs, Dow Jones reported Wednesday.
The developer of cancer diagnostics presented the data Tuesday at the national meeting on women's cancer of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
The test detects the expression of a substance called TLE3 in an ovarian tumor. In a study of 583 patients, the interaction test between TLE3 expression and response to taxane therapy was statistically significant.
Shares closed Tuesday at $2.65 after rising 8.6% and were inactive premarket.
