3/10/2010- Genessee & Wyoming Inc. (NYSE:GWR) reported traffic volumes for February 2010 today.
The company's traffic for February was 63,583 carloads, a 9% decrease year-over-year. Traffic in the first quarter of 2010 through February was 127,445 carloads, which was a decrease of 9.4% year-over-year.
Coal, coke & ores traffic decreased 2,437 carloads primarily due to lower shipments in the company's Rock Mountain and New York/Ohio/Pennsylvania Regions. Traffic in Genessee & Wyoming's Other commodity group decreased 996 carloads due to lower overhead shipments in the New York/Ohio/Pennsylvania Regions. Farm & food products traffic decreased 913 carloads due to lower shipments of export grain in the company's Canada Region.
