11/25/2009-Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM) will reportedly replace gas pedals on 3.8 million recalled vehicles in the US in an effort to correct flaws that cause the models to suddenly accelerate or cause the pedal to get stuck to the floor mat, according to an AP report.
The Transportation Department told AP that Toyota plans to shorten their gas pedals beginning in January while it makes a new pedal to replace the faulty ones, which should be available in April. Furthermore, the report indicated that some vehicles will be equipped with brake override systems.
AP said that affected models included "2007-10 model year Camry, 2005-10 Toyota Avalon, 2004-09 Prius, 2005-10 Toyota Tacoma, 2007-10 Toyota Tundra, 2007-10 Lexus ES350 and 2006-10 Lexus IS250/350."
