11/19/2009 - Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) said Thursday that it is introducing automatic, machine-generated captions for videos on its YouTube site, according to an AP report. The service is intended to make online videos accessible to the deaf and hearing-impaired. Google is using the speech-recognition technology that it uses for its Google Voice call management service to make captions an automatic feature on YouTube. For the time being, while the technology is still a work in progress, the service will be available on the YouTube channels of a few of the company's partners including PBS, National Geographic, and a few big universities.
