7/31/2009 - Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) says it has fixed an iPhone vulnerability that allows hackers to knock people offline by sending specially crafted text messages and potentially takeover the phones. The company said it issued a software fix after the vulnerability was revealed at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas. Similar weaknesses have been found in phones running other platforms such as Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android and Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Mobile operating system. Google's problem has been fixed and Microsoft is currently investigating the issue. Apple's users will be prompted to download the fix when they connect their phones to their computers.
