Apple Selling 20,000 iPads Per Hour (AAPL)

3/12/2010-Shares of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) are trading 0.6% higher to $226.85 Friday following reports that the company's new iPad, which became available for preorder today, is selling at a remarkable rate.
Phanfare calculates that iPads appear to be selling at a rate of about 20,000 units per hour based on the fact that the author and an associate bought two iPads about 30 minutes apart, and the second order ID was 10,000 higher than the first one.
Meanwhile, Apple Insider says Apple sold 50,000 iPads in the first two hours that it was available, also based on order IDs.
