Last updated March 9, 2010: 12:10 PM ET --- The major U.S. equity indices are trading higher Tuesday, a year after the beginning of the stock market's rebound from its 12-year lows. Investors are looking for the next catalyst to push stocks higher as trading remains light and little in the way of economic reports comes out today. In corporate news, Merck & Co. (NYSE:MRK) and Sanofi-Aventis (NYSE:SNY) said they are combining their animal health businesses. The joint business will control about 29% of the market for pet and livestock medicines. Boeing (NYSE:BA) shares up 1.47% after Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) said that it would not bid for the U.S. Air Force's $35 million tanker program. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) is trading 0.29% higher at 10,582.82, the S&P500 (INX) is trading 0.35% higher at 1,142.43, and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) is trading 0.56% at 2,345.22.
