Last updated January 30th, 2009 6:50 AM ET---Today, U.S. stock futures are indicating a flat start as investors await quarterly results and a key economic reading on the nation's Gross Domestic Product as well as a number of other economic readings. Friday morning includes earnings results from Chevron (NYSE:CVX), Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM), Honeywell (NYSE:HON) and Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG). Economic data includes the nation's fourth quarter gross domestic product (GDP) and the employment cost index due out at 8:30 AM, meanwhile the January reading for the Chicago purchasing managers index and consumer sentiment reading are both due out at 10:00 AM. Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares will be in the spotlight after the online retailer reported fourth-quarter earnings of 52 cents per share, beating estimates of 39 cents. Broadcom (NASDAQ:BRCM) on the other hand, missed estimates of 27 cents, printing an ex-items number of 8 cents. Furthermore, the company issued first-quarter guidance well below analysts' expectations. At the time of this report, S&P futures are up 0.60 points, Nasdaq futures are unchanged and Dow futures are unchanged.
