Morning Market Update: March 05, 2010

U.S. stock futures are trading higher Friday as U.S. employers cut a lower-than-expected 36,000 jobs in February, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged at 9.7%, according to a government report; it was unclear how severe winter weather had impacted payrolls. In corporate news, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced that the much-anticipated iPad will be available on April 3, for Wi-Fi models and sometime in late April for Wi-Fi +3G model, with preorders beginning March 12. Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM) said it has received verifiable information from U.S. authorities that some vehicle owners have experienced unintended acceleration even after their cars had been fixed under two major recalls. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) futures are trading 51 points above fair value, the S&P500 (INX) futures are trading 7.1 points above fair value, and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) futures are trading 11.0 points above fair value.
